It's one of those old wives tales trotted out to encourage women to wean their babies once the baby gets to an age that our society starts to get uncomfortable with it. I fed DS (night feeds, and comfort feeds when he was sick or fretful) until he weaned at 2 1/2, but DH and I were the only ones to know I was still feeding him. I got a bit tired of other people's opinions on the subject. Feed your baby as long as you both like - definitely is a great, nutritious food. :)
